This soft blouse is ultimate comfort and luxury: light and supple made of handwoven eri silk.
Chambray is a weaving method in which the weft threads are white. In this case, the weft threads are undyed Eri silk. The silk warp threads of the blouse are dyed black with natural materials.
The blouse was designed by House of Wandering Silk (HOWS) and is made of Eri silk. This silk is produced in an animal-friendly manner. This means that the caterpillars turn into a moth and only silk is made from the cocoons that have been left behind.
In mass production for the silk industry, silkworms are boiled alive in their cocoons to keep the structure of the silk threads intact.
The structure of this silk is therefore different from the large-scale industrially produced silk. Eri silk is more irregular and can therefore only be woven by hand. Eri silk is firmer and has particularly good thermal properties: cooling at a warm temperature and warming in cool weather. Eri silk has a subtle shine, falls smoothly and becomes softer with wear.
The blouse has a round neck and is wonderfully roomy. The button closure is made of hand-beaten brass buttons. The sleeves are elbow length with a small cuff slit and underarm insert. A small pleat at the back for ultimate comfort. This hand-woven silk becomes softer with wear.
Note the sleeve opening. The sleeve opening is the distance between the tip of your shoulder and the beginning of your armpit (don't put the tape measure in your armpit).
