This organic cotton blouse is pleated and stitched by hand. A labor-intensive job. The cotton is slightly dipped in an indigo bath. Depending on the light, the color tends to blue-gray or light blue. The detail of the pleats gives the best indication of the color.
The cotton is very thinly woven, slightly transparent and therefore very comfortable in warm weather. The blouse is designed and made in the studio of Upasana.
The dye indigo is obtained by fermentation of the leaves of the plant indigofera tinctoria . Making indigo is a profession in itself. The vessels in which the leaves ferment must be well maintained. Barrels with indigo dye can be many years old. Only after the cotton fabric has been dipped in the indigo vessel and exposed to the air will the blue color appear. That is the miracle of indigo. You only see the blue afterwards. Getting exactly the right color you want requires years of experience and craftsmanship.
The blouse has slits on the sides for optimal freedom of movement. A basic blouse for your everyday wardrobe, easy to combine.
