This festive, stylish blouse is made of delicate, hand-woven mulberry silk. But don't confuse delicate with flimsy. Silk is a thin but strong fiber. This silk is from the cocoons of caterpillars that feed exclusively on mulberry leaves, hence the name mulberry silk.

Artisanal silk weaving

For this blouse, the silk threads are spun by hand. A very precise job because the wires are very thin. The same goes for hand weaving silk. It is a process that requires a lot of patience. Hand weaving of silk is an ancient craft that dates back thousands of years, but is still little practiced. The labor involved contrasts sharply with market prices.
