Spinners and weavers lost their livelihood and the craft was in danger of being lost. Mahatma Gandhi, who fought for independence, started an economic revolution to help craft spinners and weavers in India. He called on all politicians to lead by example and collected a lot of money for "Khadi initiatives". Today, many politicians still wear khadi. The Indian flag must be made mandatory.
