This scarf is beautifully crafted. The pattern is with tie & amp; dye technique: the fabric is tied off in certain places and then dyed. This scarf is dyed with natural indigo.
Indigo has been used as a coloring agent for thousands of years. It is a 'magical' color. Indigo blue develops after indigo is exposed to air. The leaves of the indigo plant often ferment in a large barrel for years. How light or how deep the color becomes on the fabric depends on many factors, including how long and how often the fabric is dipped.
This scarf is made in Rajasthan, North West India. The designers of the fashion label Rias have their own Indigo plants.
