This yellow dress is an ode to beautiful hand weaving. An oversized model that gives the fabric plenty of room to drape and swirl.

Model of the dress

The flat collar frames the face and the fitted, dolman sleeves give shape to the oversized cut. The gathers under the gusset add drama and weight to the light cotton fabric. Wear as a dress or alternatively as house-coat with the front open.

Slow fashion from India

The dress is a design by House of Wandering Silk (HOWS) of New Delhi, a women-led social enterprise . For the collections, we work with various artisan communities in India. The fabric for this dress is woven in West Bengal. The motif in the fabric is called Jamdani: a traditional weaving technique that has been declared an intangible heritage by UNESCO.
