These scarves are hand-woven by women in a remote village in the Himalayas. They work for Avani, an organization and housing and community of the local population in the Kumaon district. The indigo dye is made from self-grown indigo plants.
The weaver women live very remote in a small village that is only accessible on foot. They have their own weaver's building with 11 hand looms. Every day they come together and weave wool, linen and silk scarves. Thanks to Avani, they are financially independent and can continue to live in their village.
The scarves are made of pure, soft merino wool and beautifully colored.
