These comfortable silk palazzo pants wear wonderfully light. The fabric feels extremely soft and undulates with your movements due to the supple structure.
The pants are made of Eri silk. The silk comes from the Eri silkworm. This silkworm produces white and sometimes brick red silk. The silk cocoons are very delicate. Eri silk is found in various regions in India.
The Eri silk for these pants is animal-friendly: the caterpillars develop into moths and the silk isbeing spun and woven from the cocoons left behind.
In mass production for the silk industry, silkworms are boiled alive in their cocoon to keep the structure of the silk threads intact.
The structure of this silk is different from the large-scale industrially produced silk. The silk threads are broken because the caterpillar has gnawed its way out of the cocoon. As a result, this silk can only be woven by hand. Eri silk has particularly good thermal properties: cooling in warm temperatures and warming in cool weather. Eri silk has a subtle shine, drapes smoothly and softens with wear.
The low crotch allows these pants to be worn high at the waist or on the hip. The elastic waistband makes the fit comfortable. The wide legs accentuate the flow of the fabric. There are pockets in the side seam.
