This cotton shirt has a a casual fit. The shirt is hand pleated, hand stitched and has hand embroidery. All done by local craftspeople in Tamil Nadu (South India) who work for the sustainable and ethical brand Upasana. Head designer Uma from Upasana initiated many projects for local people, particulary women. One of these projects is called Tsunamika.
The project Tsunamika started already in 2004 when many people lost their beloved ones and their homes due to a tsunami. To help the women build a new life the project Tsunamika was started. Women started to make small dolls with textile left overs. Since UNESCO adopted the project hundred of thousends Tsunamika's were spread all over the world for free and women were able to rebuild their lives.

The special red colour is called Alizarin. This is a red pigment extracted from the roots of Indian madder (Rubia cordifolia). In ancient times, alizarin was also made in Europe from roots of local madder. In painting, the pigment is called cracking.
The size S/M equals size 38 and 40. The size L/XL fits well with size 42. The model is size 38 and wears size S/M.
