This scarf was made in the village of Bhudjodi in the Northwest of India in the Kutch region. This region is known as a textile paradise because many old crafts are still practiced. Many families live in Bhujodi who have been dyeing traditional textiles for generations.
Shibori is a technique of binding fabric together with a thread. In the case of this scarf, the fabric is folded in small folds. These are stitched together with a long thread. The fabric is then dyed. Once out of the dye bath and dried, the thread is removed and the result is a special, beautifully pleated scarf. (Once ironed, the effect of the folds is gone).
This scarf is dyed with natural dyes.
