Measuring sizes

When measuring, wear clothing that fits tightly. You cannot measure accurately with baggy or thick clothing.

Sizes for tops and dresses

Neck The distance from the neck to the chest in an oblique line. This determines the depth of a V-neck
Front width The width of your chest above your breasts
Chest size The size of your breasts (measure the widest point: over the nipples)
Waist The circumference of the narrowest part above your belly button
Hips The widest part of your lower body just above your crotch
Shoulders The distance between the shoulder seams (extreme tips of the shoulders).
Spine length The distance between (clearly palpable) cervical vertebra and waist
Armhole The distance between the tip of your shoulder and the beginning of your armpit. (DO NOT put the tape measure in your armpit!)
Frontlength The distance from shoulder to waist
Shoulder ankle length The distance from shoulder to ankle
Spine length Distance between (clearly palpable) cervical vertebra and waist
Sleeve length Distance from the top of the upper arm to the elbow point + distance from the elbow point to the wrist added together.

Pants and Skirts

High waist The circumference of your high waist (natural waist) about 2 centimeter above your belly button. If you prefer to wear pants or a skirt on your low waist, measure your low waist.
Low waist Your low waist is the fullest part of your waist, usually at the belly button or just below it. If you prefer to wear pants or a skirt on your high waist, measure your high waist.
Hips Circumference of your hips at the widest point, usually just above the crotch.
Thigh Circumference of your thigh at its widest point
Knee Circumference of your knee
Calf Girth of your calf at its widest point
Outside leg length Distance from waist to ankle
Inseam Distance between the crotch seam (of the pants) and the cuff of the pants, measured along the inside leg.
