Soft wool scarf with silk. Woven on both sides: one side with wool and the other side with silk. The shawl is entirely vegetable dyed.
The side used is the so-called Eri side. For this, no caterpillars are cooked alive in the cocoon as usual. Eri silk is made from the silk cocoons that remain after the caterpillars have turned into silk butterfly.
The shawl is hand woven and dyed by at Avani, an organization of local residents in the foothills of the Himalayas. The special thing about this scarf is that it is woven on both sides. A special technique developed by the weaver women of Avani.
Avani is a self-sufficient organization that organically grow plants for textile dye. For this they use local plants and tree fruits.
