A blouse with a wonderfully comfortable fit. A wonderfully loose-fitting cut, ideal for maximum freedom of movement.
This blouse is completely hand printed with great craftsmanship. In northwestern India there is a village called Ajrakpur where the entire population carries out the craft of block printing. They have been doing this for many generations.
Handblock printing is done with wooden stamps. A stamp maker cuts a pattern in a block of wood into a stamp. The block printer makes its own dyes with natural raw materials such as petals, roots and the like. Then the fabric is stamped. The print pattern can consist of several layers as can be seen on this blouse. Certain patterns are stamped on top of each other.
The fashion designer Soham Dave works intensively with the artisans in the region for his collections. Designing the print patterns and choosing the colors is a joint process.
Each blouse is unique. The pattern is different on each blouse.
