This gold-colored fabric is a mix of so-called Muga silk and Tussar silk. The silkworm for both species lives in the Eastern state of Assam in India. These silkworms are not cultivated. Empty cocoons of caterpillars that have turned into butterflies are collected in the forests and the cocoon threads are woven by hand.
