This scarf is made by weavers in the village of Bhuj in Gujarat, India. The cotton is a local type: Kala. Traditionally organically grown without extra watering. The vegetable indigo for the dark blue color is home made.
The most sustainable option for cotton is native cotton. The species used for this scarf occurs naturally in the Gujarat region. Because the cotton fiber is different from the regular, modified cotton, it cannot be processed at the factory and is therefore always spun.
The weavers in Bhuj make their own paint at home. It is an age-old tradition of craftsmanship.
