This long summer cardigan made of very airy, hand-woven cotton is an eye-catcher. You can instantly brighten up your basic outfit. A unique lightweight cardigan with literally a gold rim.
The technique of weaving with gold thread is thousands of years old in India and is called Zari. Zari used to be reserved for noble families, but now we can all enjoy it. The dark blue variant with a woven block motif, is made with yet another technique: Jamdani. The motifs are manually woven into the fabric with a thread on a separate spool.
The cardigans are designed by Sarita, one of the two sisters of the sustainable label Karomi. Their location is Calcutta (now Kolkata) in the state of West Bengal in India. They work closely with local hand weavers and make full use of the textile tradition for which the region is famous: the refined cotton and the excellent weaving in their collections.
