Tassar silk is made from silkworm cocoons found mainly in eastern India, at the foot of the Himalayas. Tassar is coppery in color and this silk is mainly used for furnishing and interior design, but also for making scarves. The indigenous population grows the caterpillars for Tassar silk on a small scale. The silk is manually spun and woven on traditional hand looms.
