Tassar silk is made from silkworm cocoons found mainly in eastern India, at the foot of the Himalayas. Tassar has a coppery color and this silk is mainly used for furnishing and interior design, but also for making scarves. The indigenous population grows the caterpillars for Tassar silk on a small scale. The silk is manually spun and woven on traditional hand looms.
