Hand-woven tunic made of organic Kala cotton, brown with a blue woven lace pattern. The motif is manually woven into the fabric with great precision as a kind of "running stitch". A labour-intensive work by experienced weavers in the Indian state of Gujarat.
Kala cotton is a very old type of cotton that is native to the dry, salty desert region in the North West of Gujarat in India. The species is standard organically grown and grows purely on rainwater. The structure of Kala cotton is different from regular cotton, and Kala cotton can only be spun and woven by hand. Kala cotton is a very environmentally friendly and ethically responsible alternative to regular cotton.
