This light blue tunic has an oversized model and is made from an old cotton species that has been grown for centuries on the dry soil in North-West India: Kala cotton.
The tunic is handwoven with an extra, subtle motif. This creates a beautiful effect of the color gradient of the light indigo blue. The three-quarter sleeve is extended with a wide cuff that closes halfway the forearm with coconut buttons. Light pleats are used at the neckline, at the front and back. The tunic has a loose fit.
Kala cotton is a very old type of cotton that is native to the dry, salty desert region in the North West of Gujarat in India. The species is standard organically grown and grows purely on rainwater. The structure of Kala cotton is different from regular cotton, and Kala cotton can only be spun and woven by hand. Kala cotton is a very environmentally friendly and ethically responsible alternative to regular cotton.
